The High Holidays are just around the corner. Soon we will usher in the most meaningful part of the year, a time we can reconnect as a community, a time when we can be inspired, a time for fresh beginnings.

The coming year promises to be a great one in our community. You are invited to join the wonderful services and programs, to see old friends and discover new ones. We also have some great new initiatives and programs in place.

Please join us at our annual Rosh Hashanah dinner and break the fast with us on Yom Kippur after we blow the shofar.

Thank you for your generous support of Chevra Thilim. As we plan for and eagerly await Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, we are pleased to send you exciting information about a new program at Congregation Chevra Thilim. Our congregation has been working hard on this new opportunity in anticipation of being together on the High Holidays 5772.

The “Chaverim Program” is intended to provide everyone with a choice of giving levels that will help maintain our shul and create programs for everyone who wishes to enter our doors. The enclosed information will provide you with the details. Our goal is to offer a range of giving participation that offers something for everyone, enables us to expand our programs, and encourages the fullest possible participation in life at Chevra Thilim.

Participation in the Chaverim Program will also offer you the opportunity to become a member of Chevra Thilim. We truly hope you will consider becoming a member!

We would welcome the opportunity to discuss the Chaverim Program with you. You may also, if you choose, select a circle immediately and send the information back to our office. We are grateful for your generous support as part of a Chaverim Circle or any level of giving.

Our Hebrew School begins this Sunday, September 11 with a special ceremony to remember 9/11. We continue to implement new changes including field trips, family workshops, and holiday programs.

We are instituting T.G.I.S Community Shabbat Dinner the second Shabbat of each month. Join us for a wonderful Shabbat experience!

Kids will enjoy Club Shabbat on Shabbat mornings with our youth leaders from Israel every Shabbat from 10:30-noon. This will involve prayerssong, prizes and learning as well as story time and an activity about the Torah portion of the week. The first Shabbat of the month will be a special program for our Religious School Children and others.

Our downtown CJBN Chevra Professional Network resumes Monday, September 19th at 703 Market Street from noon-1pm. Network with other professionals and study Kabbalah with Rabbi Zarchi.

Join our minyanSundays at 8:30am, followed by breakfast and Bavli and Shabbat morning at 9:30am. Kabbalat Shabbat Services Friday nights are at 5:30pm in the winter, 6:30pm in the summer.

Wishing you a joyous and sweet New Year and to ushering in the High Holidays together as “Chaverim.”

Join us for the High Holidays. Get involved at Chevra Thilim; we would love your input and ideas. We hope to see you then.

Shana Tova,

Rabbi Shlomo Zarchi                                                       David Kimel, President
